Voltage Protection Devices Product Map

TDK offers varistors and arresters as voltage protection devices. Varistors can be used for protection from transient overvoltage such as electrostatic discharges (ESDs) or lightning surges.

Block varistors and strap varistors are suitable for protection from large surge currents (about 25kA and above). Disk varistors are suitable for protection from relatively small surge currents (100A to 25kA). Furthermore, chip varistors / CTVSs are suitable for protection from small surge currents and electrostatic discharges (ESDs).

Arresters are discharge tube type voltage protection devices that feature low capacitance and high insulation resistance. They are suitable for high frequency signal lines because of their low capacitance. (ex: <1pF)
When using arresters for power lines, please insert the varistors in series.
